Its never too early to have your child start helping out with household chores.
Have them bring their laundry to the laundry room once a week, or have them bring their own items out of the living room/den/kitchen every night.
Use a soft sided basket such as this one so that it is light weight, easy to carry, and if your child falls with it, there are no hard edges to hurt themselves on.
