Being Awake

September 28, 2010 • Uncategorized

We’re all awake right?  And we all think that everything we are doing all day every day is necessary, and that we are always paying attention to what’s going on.  Well that simply isn’t true.  Sometimes we are SO busy that the day just becomes a blur.  We forget to say hello to people, tell those around us you love them, sometimes people forget to eat or drink water!  Although I know that you can’t all clear your schedules and plan a picnic lunch with the family, but you can stop for a few minutes.  Start by taking a few deep breaths.  From there, do something that makes you smile.  Send a card to a friend, make a very quick phone call, or brighten someone else’s day.  Make the ordinary special.  Send a note to school with your kids telling them how excited you are for the weekend.  Have cookies for dessert, tell you partner you love them.  Stopping to wake up is easy and quick but it can mean the difference between an enjoyable week and a week that feels like a chore.

There is a saying, “What gets written down gets attended to, and what gets attended to gets done.”

Write down your organizing goals and hold yourself accountable for completing them.

I know it seems like a big chore, but you’ll be glad you did it once you’re done!
