Plan your week ahead on the weekend.
Weekends are our time to rest and relax from a tiring week at work. However, this organizing power tip will make an immediate impact on your daily schedule.
First, make sure you have clean clothing for the week. Determine if there are any special events that you need to wear something outside of your normal wardrobe, and plan that outfit. For example, if you need to dress up or dress down from your normal wardrobe have this outfit ready. If there is anything you need for upcoming meetings that you can plan for now, do so. If you are traveling during the upcoming week, get prepared now so that you’ll be ready to go when your travel day arrives.
Next, make sure your kids are prepared for school and after school activities. Part of this is making sure they have the clothes they want to wear ready for the week. If your child can, have them plan their outfits for the week, or at the very least the night before each schoolday. If they need gym or sports equipment for the week, make sure that is ready. If they need permission slips signed, make sure this is completed. When your children are ready for the week, it significantly reduces stress for you and your children.
Next, make sure you have groceries for the week. Planning your meals, all three each day, for the week saves time and frustration figuring out what to eat. Many people wait until the last minute to plan meals and ensure groceries are in the house. This results in many last minute trips to the store. Plan ahead and shop once. You won’t be trying to figure out what is for dinner when you are already hungry!
You will find that spending an hour of weekend preparation can save you several hours of time during the week.
