Despite being organized and loving organization projects, I’m not in love with cleaning. I do it, on a schedule, to keep my home looking nice and my possessions in good condition. I do however, believe that by having an organized home, cleaning goes much faster.
I try to use all natural cleaning products whenever possible. I don’t use paper towels or other disposable items. Instead I clean with microfiber cloths that can be washed and used over and over. I’ve had the same set for over two years.
Anyway, we recently moved to a new home with tile floors. I wasn’t used to caring for tile floors, as we had carpets previously. I have tried a few different things, a Wet Jet, a mop and bucket and I haven’t been thrilled with any of them. The mop and bucket was a pain and lots of work. The other wet mop needed me to buy refills, in plastic bottles and refill pads. Everything was disposable and therefore an environmental hazard and a huge expense.
I was sent the Reveal mop by Rubbermaid and I was smitten right away with the idea of it. The detergent is held in a hard plastic bottle that is refillable, just like a reusable drinking water bottle. The pad on the bottom is reusable pad that attaches with velcro.
I filled the detergent container with a mix of vinegar, water and lemon juice. You can use your own cleaning solution, a store bought solution or just hot water.
The mop doesn’t take any batteries, however, when you push a button it squirts the solution onto the floor for you in a nice, neat manner. It doesn’t spray everywhere or off to the sides like other mops I’ve used.
The solution cleaned my floors very well. The amount of dirt and yuck that was on the bottom of the pad when I was done was astonishing. I then just dropped the pad in the washer and it came perfectly clean. According to Rubbermaid, the pad can be used and washed up to 100 times. Refill pads are available. However, I wash my floors once a week. So by that standard, I will have this pad for almost two years before I need to buy another one.
I love this mop. Its environmentally friendly, budget friendly and cleans great. I’m happy I can take care of my home, family and the Earth by using this mop. Take a look at the mop on Rubbermaid’s site by clicking here:
