Diary of an Organizer

February 16, 2011 • Uncategorized

One of the things I find essential to my life is constant learning.  I

believe that by constantly learning new things about the world around me I

can better discover who I am and my place in the world.

Now not all of this learning is fun.  I’m a full time grad student and from

time to time I have a class or an assignment that just isn’t fun to

complete.  However, its important to perservere.  In these cases I not only

learn the material in the assignment, I learn determination and

perseverance.  Those may even be the more valuable lessons.

I have a friend who recently started law school and was very quickly buried

under assignments.  While I know that law school is intensive and difficult,

the lessons they are trying to teach are not necessarily the lessons in the

material.  Those will be forgotten over time.  The professors are teaching

hard work, dedication and determination.  The most successful students may

not be the ones who succeed, it will be the students who work the hardest,

are willing to give up their Friday nights out and devote themselves to the

learning process.

This is a valuable lesson for all of us.  We don’t have to be the smartest,

richest or have the biggest house to be the best person we can be.  We can

all start today to make an improvement in our lives, to be a better us.

Every day is filled with learning opportunities, we just have to find them

and embrace them.  Learn one new thing a day.

There is a saying, “What gets written down gets attended to, and what gets attended to gets done.”

Write down your organizing goals and hold yourself accountable for completing them.

I know it seems like a big chore, but you’ll be glad you did it once you’re done!
