Diary of An Organizer~Love Yourself

March 2, 2011 • Uncategorized

For many of us, we have been in the throws of a very deep, dark winter.

However, spring is just around the corner.  I always love the first few days

of spring.  Although its still cold, the air feels warm and comforting.  The

first time you wear short sleeves feels blissful.  Everyone is a little bit

more chipper as the sun gets higher in the sky.

This is exactly what makes this the best time of year to revaluate your

wardrobe.  Its time to clean out the excess and finally get down to basics.

At this time of year, look back on what you wore, or didn’t wear this

winter.  Do you have a pile of sweaters, pants or jackets that didn’t get

worn?  Why didn’t you wear them?  Don’t think too much on this step.

Usually, you don’t wear things that you don’t love, or are uncomfortable.

I always realize that the sweaters I haven’t worn are itchy or I pull at

them when I wear them so I take them off quickly.

We all have those things we love, but don’t wear.  They are beautiful and

represent something we’d like to be or someone we’d like to be.  However,

they aren’t part of our lives now.

So many of us walk around in clothes that are faded, have holes in them ,

are older than we’d like etc.  We always save the “good clothes” for “a

special occasion”.  Well that day is today. Today is the day to look good

and food good about yourself.

If you don’t feel good about yourself and love the way you look, how can you

expect someone else to?  We have to care for ourselves before we can care

for others.  So often, women in particular, think they are doing everyone a

service by catering to everyone else before themselves.  In fact, this is a

disservice to everyone involved.  If you feel great about your self your

kids will know that.  If you feel sexy, your partner will see that.  You

will become more charismatic and enjoyable to be around.  You will be

happier and more fulfilled.

So this spring, don’t simply clean out your closet in regards to old, new,

dressy, casual, spring, winter, etc.  Clean it out and get rid of anything

you don’t love and love yourself in.

There is a saying, “What gets written down gets attended to, and what gets attended to gets done.”

Write down your organizing goals and hold yourself accountable for completing them.

I know it seems like a big chore, but you’ll be glad you did it once you’re done!
