Five Favorite Home Fitness Items

February 21, 2012 • Uncategorized

I have a home gym.  I don’t have time to make it our to a regular gym so I put one in my home.  While some of my favorite pieces are more expensive, they allow me to get a full workout at home.  However, many of my favorite items can be used in any area of your home and cost under $30.

1.  Foam roller.  These rollers come in various sizes and various densities.  They allow you to stretch out at the end of a workout and more importantly relax.  They also come in various colors.  I love using my foam roller twice a day for five minutes.  This gives me time to decompress and allows me to stretch out.

2.  Yoga mat.  I love my yoga mat.  I use it to relax on, meditate on, and lift weights on.  Its a great multi purpose tool and cane be used both at a yoga class or at home.  And its portable so you can put it in front of the TV, at the foot of your bed etc.

3.  Punching bag.  I filled the base of mine with sand so it stays in place.  I use it with a pair of gloves and can punch it, kick it, etc. Its a great workout AND it relieves frustration!  They are often less than $100 and come in various sizes.

4.  Bosu ball.  This is a great tool for balance and strength.  Mine came with a video that gave me lots of ideas on how to use it.  I use mine with weights and as a balancing tool.  They are about $100 and can be picked up and put against a wall when not in use.

5.  Indo board.  This isn’t for the faint of heart.  This board is designed to help you increase your balance ability.  Its used by long boarders and surfers.  It comes with a roller and a inflatable pad so you can increase your ability as you practice.
