Kitchen organization is always a challenge and no one has enough space to hold everything they need to. One organizational tool that I like to use with my clients is what I call the “appliance garage”. This is a space in the home where you store larger, heavy, lesser used appliances. So often we try to fit everything into our kitchen. Instead, think outside of the “kitchen box” and think about other spaces you have in your home that are underused.
For example, perhaps you have a space at the bottom of a set of stairs. Or a closet in the guest room. You are looking for a space where you can store your appliances and they are protected from dust and dirt. If you have to clean something off every time you want to use it chances are you won’t ever go for it.
Its also important to make sure that items can be grabbed easily. Some appliances are very heavy and you don’t want to be reaching over your head. Finally make sure that everyone knows where items belong.
Examples of items I’d suggest keeping in an appliance garage are:
Juicers, bread makers, mixers, food processors, large roasting pans, etc. Anything that you don’t use daily can be kept someplace else!
