I love using large glass jars for pantry organization. My favorite ones come from Target or Walmart and cost just a few dollars a piece. I look for jars that have good lids and are dishwasher safe. Its a bonus if they come in various sizes.
Glass jars are great because they allow you to see just how much you have of every item. They also take up the same amount of space week after week. Most of us have different amounts of things in our pantries every week and the goal is to develop a system that works for you week after week.
While labels will work for these jars, I love to take it a step further and etch the glass on them. This sounds complicated but its easy, fun and really adds a beautiful element to your pantry.
The first thing to do is to cut a stencil out of adhesive craft paper. You can also buy a stencil or use regular craft paper and also purchase non permanent spray adhesive.
Once you have adhered the stencil to the glass, paint on etching creme. Wait the amount of time specified by the directions on the etching creme and then wipe off completely. Now you have custom jars!
I love the idea of using glass jars for things like coffee and tea bags. By etching them, you make them pretty enough to sit on the counter. This is also a great gift idea. By etching you can turn some inexpensive glass containers into custom kitchen ware!
