1. Determine if you are using the right purse. Your purse should be made of lightweight material. One with lots of interior compartments is helpful. Make sure you bag is easy to carry. Purses that are “cross body” are best for your back. Even if it is comfortable to carry on a shoulder, most people have a dominant shoulder and will end up carrying in on one side most of the time. Chose a purse with a light colored interior. This will help you locate things quickly and easily.
2. Get rid of coins from your purse regularly. Many times people dump coins into a change purse AND into the bottom of their bag. This can get heavy quickly.
3. Toss extra items that you don’t need to carry. I will provide a detailed list later this week. However, these can include extra lip glosses, coupons, kid’s items, coins, cards, etc.
4. Keep copies of your cards (front and back) at home. That way, if your purse is stolen you have all applicable information necessary to report your card lost and stolen as quickly as possible.
5. Consider using a small clutch wallet within a bigger bag. That way you can grab the clutch and go when you are hitting the grocery store, but when you are out working for the day, you take your bigger purse and have everything you need.
6. Use a roll up water bottle such as the Platypus one seen here. It works like a regular bottle when it has water in it, but it roll sup at the end of the day.
7. Toss anything that you haven’t used in three months or more; makeup, receipts, keys, coupons, etc…its weighing you down and possibly damaging the inside of your purse.
8. Use smaller bags to organize and protect your items. One small bag for medication, one small bag for cosmetics, etc. Small bags can be purchased in the travel section of most stores, or you can simply use quart size plastic zippered bags. Or use a purse organizer, like the Pouchee, to organize your items. You will always know where they are and you can move it from purse to purse quickly.
9. Use a coupon organizer like the one pictures to wrangle receipts and coupons. Make sure you go through it regularly to ensure over flow and outdated material.
10. Be honest with yourself. What’s the worst that would happen if you left something at home? Chances are you could call someone at home, look the information up online or visit a drugstore. Lugging around too much stuff isn’t work the health of your neck and back in the odd case you “just might need something”.
