As the New Year is upon us for many its a time to think about what we want to accomplish in the coming year. Something that I really set my mind to do in 2012 was meditate. Its not easy to get into the habit and its not easy to find the time. However, when you do, it becomes an amazing part of your day. You look forward to it and feel refreshed afterwards.
You can meditate in a special place in your home or anywhere you can find a little space. While the benefits of meditation are numerous, I’ve pulled a few together for you, followed by a meditation tool:

Meditation is a scary thing to a lot of people. However, it means different things to everyone. While I can get philosophical about what it means to me, I want to tell you how simple it can be and how much of an impact it can make on your life.
You don’t need a lot of equipment to meditate. You need a quiet place, the intention to be still and a cushion, or zafu. A zafu is a small, round cushion designed for you to sit on. A zafu allows your legs to sit comfortably and your back to stretch as it needs.
I was able to try out a zafu from Master Zafutist. Its made of 100% cotton twill. It has a handle on the side so you can take it with you around the house, etc. Its small enough to be easy to carry but large enough to be comfortable to sit on.
The zafu is filled with buckwheat hulls, which are substantial but not heavy.
