When I came across this book I was curious right away about its contents. Live More Want Less isn’t just an organizing guide. Its a guide to the life you want to live.
The book is divided into 52 sections and while you can read them straight through, you can also attack one each week of the year. You don’t have to start at the beginning of the year either.
The lessons in the book address everything from getting rid of the excess clutter in your home, to addressing your shopping habits, rethinking your relationships and even packing for travel.
Each of the lessons is presented in an easy to read and easy to digest chapter. At the end of the chapter you are presented with Daily Practices-these are small little nuggets of knowledge that you can apply to your every day life.
One of the lessons I particularly liked is about creating a home in which everything has a place. I get asked a lot what the most important things in getting organized is. This is the practice of propasana, in which everything has a proper placement. As long as items within your home have a place they belong, you can quickly and easily put things away when you have the time. This may not be every single day, but at least every few days.
People often think about living a better life and getting organized as being the same as just getting rid of a lot of stuff. While this can help, it is not always the biggest obstacle. Live More Want Less really helps you address WHY you want to get organized and what is most important to you. This is an amazing book to give someone who has been struggling with disorganization. I also think it would make an amazing present for someone who is simply rethinking their life, possibly changing jobs, just had a baby or needs a little motivation. I promise you won’t be disappointed.
