Being happier and healthier doesn’t have to be an allusive process. It doesn’t take a lot of time or money to make a difference in your every day life and in your long term happiness goals.
Use vitamin C. Taking it internally or using it topically can help your skin retain a youthful appearance.
A commute longer than 22 minutes each way can have a negative effect on your well being. Use your commute as a mini break. Listen to an audio book, play music, keep it as quiet time for yourself.
Smile. Studies have shown that a smile, even if you don’t mean it, can change the chemistry in your body.
Rest. People are more creative at problem solving when they are laying down. Take a load off your feet and give it some thought.
Eat dark chocolate. Subjects who were stressed out and then ate 1.4 ounces of dark chocolate every day, showed lower signs of stress hormones.
Use epsom salts. While this doesn’t seem like a game changer, an epsom salt bath is filled with magnesium which has soothing properties for both your mind and nervous system.
Take a hike. Getting outside has shown to improve memory and attention tests by as much as 20% in subjects.
Turn off the electronics! Stop using all devices at least an hour before bed to help your brain settle down.
Clean your room. Your mother knew was she was talking about when she asked you pick up. A dusty or cluttered room can prevent you from relaxing mentally and physically.
Don’t let Facebook get you down. People don’t post that they can’t pay their bills, locked themselves out of the house or broke a plate. They want to share good stuff. So when you see posts of people on vacation, at parties, etc, keep in mind it is only a portion of their lives.
People sleep better with socks on.
