Guest rooms often become a dumping ground for things around your home that you don’t know where to place. If you’re having guests it is time to do a little clean out and make the room warm and welcoming for your guests. Besides cleaning out the obvious piles of stuff from the bed, floor and closet, there are some touches you can do to make your guests feel at home.
Make sure that there are no dust bunnies under the bed, on the nigh tables, or around the bed.
Make sure that the curtains are clean and unwrinkled.
Sheets and other bedding should be clean.
A lamp or reading light. If the switches are complicated, label them.
Water bottles or a carafe and glasses.
Magazines or books. Books of pictures or quotes are great. If there is a book specific to your area, that’s even better.
An extra blanket in case they get cold.
Snacks.
Let guests know about opening the windows (your home rules, alarm noises, etc)
A garbage bin.
If you own a luggage rack, put it out.
Empty hangers if the guest can use the closet.
A working alarm clock. Don’t depend on the guest having a cell phone to use.
A box of tissues.
In the bathroom:
Towels
Soap/shampoo/toothpaste
Extra roll of toilet paper
Hand soap
Other handy items such as pain killers, lotion, band aids, sunblock, etc.
