Creating an Organized Play Space

February 1, 2014 • Home Organizing Tips, Kids

Toys and kids are two of the most difficult things to organize.  I work with clients a lot to create spaces that allow kids to play, have fun and still allow them storage for all of their games, toys and books.  It also helps if those storage options look cute too!  Here are some of my favorites.

This steel cube provides plenty to storage and a flat play space. It’s great for Lego builds, arts and crafts projects or ongoing games.

If you want to get the back seat organized, try this little amazing organizer. It keeps everything in place so you’re not digging around underneath the seats. It’s perfect to keep some school supplies on hand in case you spend time in the car after school and have the chance to get a head start on homework. It’s also great for road trips!

This kids’ coloring table is one of my all time favorite organizing products. It holds lots of arts and craft supplies and give your kids a place to draw, color and create. Keeping it all in one pint sized space is organized and cute.

If you need to create some storage space in your playroom, consider installing a shelving unit designed just for kids’ spaces. I love that Elfa systems can be adjusted as necessary to fit your kids’ needs.

Finally, one of my favorite kid friendly organizing tools is the Jr. Flip and Fold.  Believe it or not, kids love to use this little tool. IT leaves all of your clothes folded right and uniformly.  It’s a great tool to make sure you can see everything your child owns in the closet and drawers.  It’s inexpensive too!

There is a saying, “What gets written down gets attended to, and what gets attended to gets done.”

Write down your organizing goals and hold yourself accountable for completing them.

I know it seems like a big chore, but you’ll be glad you did it once you’re done!
