I’ve seen these flags all over the place…like Etsy and Pinterest. They are adorable and if you need a lot of them, the price can add up. They are awesome for everything from cupcake toppers to sandwich markers to marking off items in the fridge. Because washi tape comes in SO many colors and patterns, you can customize these any way you want. I have bought these in the past for parties I’m thrown and so on. However, I wanted to try my hand at making them and share it with you!
So, go grab some tooth picks from the kitchen. You can special order colored toothpicks if you want, but I used good old fashioned toothpicks that you buy from the grocery store. Pick out your favorite colors of washi tape and some scissors.
Cut a piece of washi tape about two inches long. Wrap it, very carefully, around the tooth pick, make the edges match up. Take a moment to press the tape together.
The next step is easy once you get the hand of it. Just cut a little notch in the flag with sharp scissors. I drew the first few on to make sure they would come out evenly. I made about a dozen of these gems and it took me about 20 minutes.
