I wanted to share a little story with you. It’s about a book I’ve been working on for no less than five years. Seriously. When I started my business in 2006 I thought I was going to have all the time in the world for writing, publishing and marketing books. That didn’t happen. You know, the best laid plans and all of that. Don’t get my wrong, I published a few and you can get them on Amazon. However, the book I REALLY wanted to write was all about home organization….and it never happened.
I had lots of ideas and I even had pages and pages and pages of things written. But when it came time to getting it done and to an editor/formatter/publishers, I was never quite ready. SO, last fall I decided I’d put this out as an ebook. I figured this was easier for my readers to download and carry with them and easier for me to publish.
I sat down and weeded through hundreds and hundreds of pages, old files and blog posts in order to put it together. My goal was to have this ready to go for the 1st of the year for 2015. (So that you could use it to meet your New Year’s Resolutions.) Well I got busy, my dad got sick and the winter was just pretty miserable all around. Around February I sent it to an editor. She mailed me a copy back and it got lost in the mail. (See? These things happen to even the most organized people.)
As you’re reading this, it’s August and guess what, no ebook yet! I am working on getting it from the editor, and once I have it back, I’ll have a lot of revisions to do, formatting and then of course, getting it ready to go to YOU, my amazing readers.
So why am I telling you all of this? I want you to know that you’re not alone. Project go uncompleted. Things go wrong and the you know what hits the fan….sometimes more than once. BUT if the project is important to you, you’ll find a way to make it work. If it should be done, it will get done in its own time. Most importantly, you can’t let the little things life throws at you deter you from achieving your goals. You need to plow through and make things happen. Sometimes you’ll need an extra cup of coffee, but it’s up to you to show life who’s boss.
What projects have you been putting off or haven’t done due to complications? Tell me below and I’ll help you overcome them!
