I love books. I love reading. I don’t have enough time for it, but I try to make it a point to find a few moments each day to read. Sometimes I’ve been known to multi task and I read on the spin bike in my home gym, or I read while I’m waiting for an appointment to begin. I am single handedly keeping my librarians busy with all of the books I request and borrow from my library. I might be the last person using a public library 🙂 Books become part of who we are and can help define the important moments in our life. These are the books that have done that for me.
The Four Agreements byDon Miguel Ruiz is a book that’s seemingly simple in nature, but oh so powerful. The four agreements are these: Be impeccable with your word. Don’t take anything personally. Don’t make assumptions. Always do your best. The four agreements change change the way you see the world. They apply to everything from your career to your pets. I found that despite nothing having actually changed in my life, my perspective did because of this book. Because of that, everything seemed better.
Daring Greatly by Brene Brown will change the way you make choices. The book is all about living our dreams, making bold choices and becoming the person we’ve always wanted to become. It’s NOT about making wild changes, but about finding your true self and daring to be who you were destined to be, through your actions every single day.
Moosewood Restaurant Favorites has not only inspired me to make some amazing week night meals, it’s even convinced my husband that vegetarian food can taste amazing. The recipes use easy to find ingredients and can be made quickly (in most cases). They are unique, taste amazing and will make the whole family happy. This is the cookbook I go to over and over again.
Turning Pro by Stephen Pressfield is a great book for entrepreneurs. However, it can apply to just about anything. Turing Pro helps you find your purpose, take yourself seriously and make your goals happen. This book is easy (and fast) to read and will make a BIG difference in the way you take action, every single day.
