With the New Year comes new beginnings. This month I challenge you to clean out your makeup and skin care drawer and keep only what you love, use and is still in good condition. (You may love that silver eye shadow but if it’s six years old it’s time to let it go!) I’ve been doing the same with my makeup drawer and stocking it with meaningful items that allow me to look good and do it quickly. Here are some of my finds and favorites. This month I challenge you to clean out your makeup and skin care drawer and keep only what you… Click To Tweet
It’s not often a small product can change your whole appearance. Onomie’s Eye Essentials Duo can help you fight aging AND conceal those dark circles. Both the Bright Concealing Elixir and the A.C.E. Illuminating Eye Treatment go on easily and stay all day. They are both free of fragrance, alcohol, parabens, and phthalates. I have dark circles under my eyes and with just a little bit of the Bright Concealing Elixir I looked refreshed and glowing. This is a great product to use when you’re pressed for time. Add mascara and some lip gloss and you’re ready to race out the door. Megan Markle also calls this a favorite.
This may seem unrelated to beauty, but I wanted to share with you some of the ways I organize my beauty products. I love collecting small bowls and trays like this tray and this dish by Maxwell + Williams. They allow me to clearly see my products and I’m able to grab them and use them easily. If I don’t see something, I don’t use it. It’s just the way I am. I prefer using ceramic dishes to hold beauty products in case something spills. Ceramic is easily washable and not easily stained.
I recently found Thrive Causmetics and I couldn’t be more smitten. Their products are amazing and every purchase from them means that a woman fighting cancer also gets a product. Everything is named after a strong woman fighting the toughest battle of her life. The products are meant to make them look AND feel good at the same time. I was lucky enough to try out both their eye liner and their lashes.
Thrive’s Infinity Eyeliner is amazing. There’s no other way to describe it. It goes on creamy (no pulling) and sets in 30 seconds. It’s waterproof and stays all day. It’s highly pigmented but doesn’t look over bearing. It’s also paraben-free, sulfate-free, latex-free, creulty-free, vegan and dermatologist tested. I can’t get enough of the amazing colors they sell and how awesome this is for everything from a day at the office to a night on the town.
I’ll be honest, I’ve never tried fake lashes before so I was a tad anxious. The Jackie Lashes were easy to apply and they stayed on all day. They looked natural and were easy to wear. I didn’t feel odd or uncomfortable at all. These lashes define your eyes and make your whole look “pop”. They can be worn and reused up to 30 times in fact.
I’m never without a tube of Chap-Stick. I seriously have one in every pocket, on my desk, in my bag, and everywhere in between. My newest love is their Total Hydration line (available in citrus and vanilla). They help keep your lips soft and smooth, despite the harsh winter months we’re in now. Yes, these are amazing little ways to treat yourself, and keep away the winter blues. If you ski, run, or even just play outside in the winter, these are just what you need. Check them out here.
Winter makeup is about more than just looking good. It’s also about protecting your skin. Think you can’t have both? You’re wrong! Check out Laneige’s BB Cushion Creme. It goes on so easily and quickly it’s amazing. I’m not a makeup application expert at all! This evens out your skin tone, and gives you a flawless feel and look all day ling. It has SPF 50 in it and blocks UVA/UVB rays. I put this on in the morning and wore it all day….you can’t even feel it on your face. This is the perfect addition to your winter makeup routine! I love that I look and feel fresh faced in just one step. It doesn’t feel or look heavy either. This will quickly become your go to product, even on those days you’re racing for the door.
