5 Ways To Make Your Morning Routine Easier

February 9, 2016 • Home Organizing Tips

Mornings are rough.  There’s no way around them either.  You can make them easier.  A little planning and prepping can make every morning go smoothly.  If you create the right habits, your mornings fly by on auto pilot with no ugly surprises.  Here’s what I do to make mornings easier.

5 Ways To Make Your Morning Routine Easier

Make your mornings easier with these tips...I promise, it's possible. Click To Tweet

Early Riser

Get up first.  Let’s face it, you run the show.  If the zoo keeper doesn’t get up first, the animals can take over.  It may sound silly, but just a few minutes of peace and quiet to yourself in the morning can give you a little serenity as you start your day.

Checklists

Instead of running around the house barking out orders, create checklists for everyone to follow.  This not only establishes routines, it takes the burden off of you.   They may take some time to adjust to, but the time invested will pay off in dividends.

Assume You Don’t Have Time

When you’re prepping the night before or planning out your morning, assume you don’t have time for additional tasks.  It sounds like a negative attitude.  However, it’s realistic.  Your family will be groggy, and sometimes grouchy.  You are going to have to over come those obstacles, don’t put any more in the way.

Do What You Can The Night Before

There’s nothing better than having your coffee maker already brewing when you wake up.  It’s also great to have things prepped so you can simply relax before racing out to meet the day.  Invest five or ten minutes the night before.  Think of it as a gift to yourself.

Start Your Engines

If you can, start the dishwasher and or washer.  They will work while you’re at work, and you can come home to clean clothes and dishes.  Or, throw dinner in the crockpot so it’s ready when you arrive home.  A little work now, makes for a more relaxed evening.

There is a saying, “What gets written down gets attended to, and what gets attended to gets done.”

Write down your organizing goals and hold yourself accountable for completing them.

I know it seems like a big chore, but you’ll be glad you did it once you’re done!
