Put Some Fun In Healing

April 15, 2016 • Uncategorized

This post was sponsored by Floating Hospital for Children as part of an Influencer Activation for Influence Central. Thank you for supporting brands that support my blog.

You may not have heard of the Floating Children’s Hospital, but you have probably heard of the amazing work they are doing.

For children with chronic and complex conditions, The Floating Children’s Hospital is a sanctuary of health.  They allow children and families to get the care they need in a supportive environment.

In 1948 they started their Child Life Services program, which was designed to allow children and families to maintain normalcy, even during a very difficult time.  This programs includes tutoring, overnight stays for parents, and of course, lots of play! Through this program, kids and parents can heal their bodies and their minds together while getting the care they need.  It seems simple, but it’s a revolutionary program.

One of the most adorable parts of the program are the Toughlings.  These cute characters are all over the hospital and encourage and inspire through fun.  Their names are Buff – a badger, Elbo – an octopus, Mica – an ant, Cozi – a turtle, and Sage – an owl.  How cute are they?!

Floating Children’s Hospital wants everyone to know you don’t have to be big to be strong.  So many children face horrifying illnesses, and do with with grace, bravery, and stamina that many adults cannot fathom.  The video below speaks to this message.  It’s amazing what we can do when we encourage each other, and dig down deep to find strength.

In the past year, I’ve spent a lot of time in hospitals for family members.  It’s hard for families to feel comfortable in this environment. It’s even harder to focus on healing when you’re stressed out and uncomfortable.  Floating Hospital for Children takes the stress out of hospitals and puts the emphasis back on healing.
