Since where was SO much to show you in our new office, the last post went a little long…and so I’ve split it up unto a second post. Please let me know what you like, what questions you have, and what else you’d like to see! We’ve been working in the new office for a little over a month and we’re loving it. The only thing we DON’T have set up yet is our photo studio…more on that coming soon!
The denim chair is older than I am. No joke. It was redone into this denim dream by my in laws about 10 years ago. I love the curvy feel and funky wood arms. I added the pillow to it for a little comfort and to make it tie into the space. I found the silver elephant pillow by Cynthia Rowley at Home Goods for $25.
Then, I decided on the pops of color….and the fact that they would be teal. This really came form the fact that I have a teal lamp and a teal tray that I adore.
The Elephant wall item was a gift from my husband. We found it at Jordan’s furniture and he had to scale a set of bunk beds in order to take it off the wall for me.
The meditating doggie was a gift from an amazing friend and he is what I see directly from my desk. He reminds me to stay centered.
I also added a set of blue tooth speakers. These are from SonIQ and will allow me to play music from my phone or computer and since they are so tiny, I can put them anywhere in the office. In fact, I find myself bringing them from room to room to use….right now they are in the kitchen and they might make an appearance in the nursery. I was surprised as how great the sound was from this little speaker set. And, they are super affordable. These are a great way to make any space feel like home, without taking up a lot of space. You can buy them online here.
The globe and lunch box are actually vintage from my in-law’s basement. I love flea market finds, but I also love reusing things we already have around the house. (Or in this case, my in-law’s house.)
The elephants you see here are a collection started by my grandmother. Over the years I’ve added more and more as I’ve traveled, received as gifts, or purchased. People often believe that organizers are against collections that serve no purpose. I’m not one of those organizers. I believe that if you love something, the key is to honor it. Display your collections and show them off.
The lamp was a Home Goods find. It was actually broken and I asked for a further discount. It was originally $200, marked down a number of times to a clearance price of $35. I snagged it for $12 and then headed to Lowe’s to buy a parts replacement kit. The kit was $4 and fixed the lamp in just a few minutes.
The chair is from Umbra. I LOVE Umbra’s fun products. They work as hard as you do, however, add some fun and flair to the every day. The OH Chair is perfect to dress up any office or desk space. It’s durable so it’s great even for a kid’s space. However, I love the minimalist yet whimsical look it has in my mostly neutral space. It’s also super affordable and available in lots of color choices; black, surf blue, yellow, white, orange, and red.
There were similar systems in other closets that we were removing so I had lots of extra pieces to work with. I added shelves and took out the clothing rods. I also grabbed all of the shoe organizers and figured I’d use them in here (I was determined).
The shoe racks were one of my best finds actually. They were free (found in other closets) and they fit my craft totes PERFECTLY. I love these small totes (I bought mine on Amazon), and I use them for lots of spaces in my home. I digress…..I put all of my craft supplies at the bottom of the closet and then all of my office supplies and more regularly used items (such as my card tote) on the easier to reach shelves. The organizing supplies you see here I had on hand so I didn’t need to buy anything new.
I do a lot of drawing for my clients. I sketch out promotional materials, or logos, and I need markers and other drawing utensils on hand to be able to do this. I also have an obsession with Sharpies, and I love to create fun printables for you as well. Anyway, I found these organizers in the kitchen section of IKEA. The bar was $2.99 and the bins were $.99 each. The set of two racks cost $12. They are perfect as I can grab a cup and use it on my desk, then simply hang it back up. (I was just at IKEA again this week and they have changed these bins ever so slightly to be more square now….they are a tiny bit more expensive as well. If you see the old version, grab em’ while you can!)
