Keeping it together is really a balancing act. Some days you’re going to be better at it than others. However, there are a few tricks and tools I rely upon to be my secret weapons. So, when the calendar is full, and the clock is ticking, this is how I survive.
- I do what I can on weekends and when I have “down time”. Now I know you want to wear sweats and binge Netflix on the weekend, and I’m all for that. However, sometimes just sitting on the couch with a notebook and your planner can be super helpful. Take a few moments to think about what you are going to eat for the week ahead, see what appointments you have, and prepare in any way you can. If nothing else, I find that this process mentally prepares me for what I have coming up.
- Pick the right tools. My new favorite tool is the LG TwinWash system. Of course you can do traditional loads of laundry, but it’s super power feature is the LG SideKick pedestal washer. It’s made for small loads that can’t wait. I seem to have a lot of these; my clothes from after my spin workout, the favorite onesie that now has avocado on it, or my husbands dress shirt he REALLY needs tomorrow. I love that I can toss these in and do a small load whenever I need to. I can even do this while I’m running a larger load. This is great if I have one white shirt to wash and a load full of colors. - Schedule play. I know you want to play with your kids all the time. And sometimes, we get so busy doing homework, cleaning, cooking, and running from place to place that we forget to spend time together on a meaningful basis. Schedule it in the calendar just like you would any other appointment. Trust me, you’ll be glad you did!
