Shop Small

November 21, 2020 • Uncategorized

We all know Small Business Saturday is coming. And, we all know that small businesses were hurt badly in 2020 by the pandemic. So, when you’re doing your holiday shopping this year, I implore you, to take a moment to look at some small businesses and their curated wares.

I want to share with you some of my personal favorites. These are places I’ve shopping from more than once. My orders have arrived with love; sometimes notes. The owners post their names, and I can call them and ask a question if I have one. Buying from a small business is a relationship, not just a transaction.

For Unique Gifts

This gem of a store is in my town. I’m not sure how I got so lucky, but I’m just going with it. The Safari Collective carries gifts, sundry items, personal care items, household supplies and jewelry. Their prices are reasonable and the quality is always amazing. The items that the owner selects are sustainable and beautiful. She will even assemble a custom gift box for you upon request.

For The Reader

Hello Hello Books is a bookstore in Maine. It was always a favorite stop of mine before I got on the boat in the summer. However, the pandemic shut their doors and forced them to rethink virtual selling. For the first time ever, they have a digital holiday catalog. So, while 2020 has been stressful for them, some of us from our of state have lucked out and are able to buy gifts and books from them virtually this year. They carry used and new books, AND some of the cutest and most unique gift items you’ll find.

For Some Self Care

If you’re looking to gift someone with a little self care, Island Apothecary is the perfect fit. Their all natural skin care products are amazing. When I tell you they work wonders I cannot overstate this. I have the driest legs ever and their body oil has changed my life. Anyway, from their eye roller to a full skin care kit, you can gift your loved one with a full routine that will keep them looking and feeling good all through the winter.

For Something Delicious

I love gifting food. It’s consumable, clutter free and a treat for the recipient. The Cookie Girl brings her pastry chef training to some unique and beautiful holiday goodies. Cookies in every shape you can imagine, topped with delicious frosting and customized with your child’s name, corporate logo or even pet, these are a great way of sending a smile anywhere in the country. Order early and don’t forget to send some to yourself!
