I’ve covered a lot of subscription boxes..read our posts here and here…but I’ve never found one for crafts. The Hippie Hobby box arrives on your door every other month. It contains everything you need to complete one or two crafts.
Please note I received a sample of the Hippy Hobby in order to be able to write this review. My opinions are my own. I only bring you products I enjoy.
The box I received was filled with materials to make glass vintage book magnets. There was also a bonus craft…vintage book cupcake toppers.
The box itself was adorable and all of the supplies were in small containers, easy to identify and utilize. The instructions were easy to follow and there were visual aids as well. I’d say this was more of a grown up craft, however, teenagers would like it as well.
The materials in the box were: Magnets, super glue, a foam paint brush, glass beads, Mod Podge and vintage book pages. The only things I needed that were not included were a pencil and scissors.
The first step was to trace a glass bead onto the pages and to cut it out. I selected one page with a picture and another with words to start.
Next, I used Mod Podge to adhere the paper to the back. Note, it does not appear clear when you complete this step. However, it dries clear. Once everything is dry, peel the back of the magnet and adhere it to the paper.
Here you can see two of the magnets I completed. They are fun and whimsical and you can use any old book you have around the house. Or, you could use typed words of your choosing.
The project took me almost no time at all to complete. It would be a great rainy day activity to have on hand!
