Holiday Travel With Toddlers

With the holidays coming, chances are you are going to have to travel at least once. If you have toddlers, this is sometimes not as enjoyable as you’d hope. This year, doing a little preparation and it will give you a little peace of mind (and possibly some peace and quiet!).

Holiday Travel With Kids

1. If you’re going to be traveling in a way you’ve never traveled before, it’s a good idea to familiarize your toddlers with the method. If this is flying, read books about airplanes, discuss the boarding process and even go see some planes taking off and landing. You can increase the likelihood of your child sleeping on the flight by traveling overnight.

2. Buy some special travel toys. They don’t have to be elaborate. However, the novelty of a new toy is a great distraction when the tedium of travel sets in. Activity books, a new electronic game or even a new small set of Legos are all great options.

3. Pack snacks that won’t cause a meltdown. Kids love sugary snacks and the candy you can buy at the airport gift shop. Pocket Protein KidzHowever, they can lead to quick meltdowns mid travel. My new favorite is called Pocket Protein Kidz. It’s a high protein snack that tastes good! It’s a delicious snack in a pouch so it’s easy to carry on go. It’s easy for little hands to hold too :) Each pack is fat, sugar, carb, gluten, lactose and nut free. How awesome is that? Right now, if you order a 6 pack, they are donating a 6 pack to kids in need. AND by entering code JOYFUL you can get 15% off! Preorder these today for arrival in Jan/Feb. The fruit punch flavor is a winner with everyone too :) Support Pocket Protein Kidz and be the first of your friends to know about this gem!

When you purchase, you’ll be entered to win a $500 Visa gift card, just in time for holiday shopping! See rules here.

4. Staying in a new location can be a little scary for little ones. Take some of the comforts of home, like a favorite blanket, stuffed animal and night light, just to make the night a little easier.

5. It helps everyone if you stick to a schedule similar to the one you keep at home. Try to go to bed and wake up at the same time, and make sure you eat meals before everyone is starving and melting down.
