Yes, it’s time to spring clean. While cleaning isn’t always fun, it does mean spring is here! And that’s awesome! (Especially for those of us in the North East).
So where to start and what to clean? Here are our tips for making it all happen and not having to spend all your free time doing it.
First, grab supplies on your next trip to the store. No need for a special trip, just pick up some supplies when you go to Target or the grocery store next.
Here are some of my favorites….Swiffer Dusters! I use these when I’m doing a deep clean. They grab the dust and keep it on the duster and not in the air. Since I have asthma that’s super important for me.
Pick some dates to start your cleaning….put it on your calendar. This will make sure you get it done!
Some people like to divide the house up into rooms or sections. I like to divide it up by type of cleaning. I find that doing all of one thing at a time helps you stay focused and you don’t have to swap tools. Here are the groupings I like to use:
Baseboards
Windows/Mirrors
Floors (vacuum then wash)
Dust furniture
Picture frames and wall hangings
Kitchen Counters
Sinks and showers/tubs
Toilets
Curtains (wash or fluff)
Kids’ Spaces
I always give my floors an extra deep clean when spring rolls around. They always seem a tad bit dirtier after the winter dirt and salt. I like to fluff everything I can; curtains, couch pillows, throw blankets and so on. This reduces allergens. I also use Febreze’s allergen reducer. After all I have two dogs!
Think about what can be working while you do. For example:
Start the washing machine so it’s cleaning.
Run the dishwasher.
If you have a robotic vacuum set it to start.
Open the windows so the room is airing out.
Spray cleaner in the showers and toilets so they are “soaking”.
What’s your favorite way to spring clean?
