I love walking and running and racing. This fall, I’m going to take part in The Jimmy Fund Boston Marathon walk and make a difference while I’m walking. The Jimmy Fund supports cancer treatment and research in a way that very few hospitals do. Since 1948 The Jimmy Fund has raised millions of dollars through community outreach programs. It’s a cause that’s near and dear to so many.

Please note this is a sponsored post. My opinions are my own and were not effected in any way. This is something I think is a valuable message and cause and I wanted to share it with my readers.
Personally, I had a number of friends and family touched by cancer and the support provided by The Jimmy Fund to both the patient and their family is outstanding and unlike anything you’ll find elsewhere. The world would be a better place if we never had to hear the words, “I have cancer” again. Those words mean that you are going to be faced with challenges and trials like never before. A family can be torn in pieces by the financial implications of a diagnosis like this. My grandmother was faced with many tough decisions during her cancer treatment and while she was never upset or downtrodden, the struggle was long and difficult for everyone involved.
The Jimmy Fund relies on donations from people like you as well as events such as runs, walks (like this one!), dances, softball games and golf tournaments.

The Jimmy Fund Boston Marathon walk is taking place on September 27th. You can choose from a few different routes; the Hopkinton 26.2 mile walk, the Wellesley 13.1 mile walk, the a Boston College 5 mile walk or a Dana Farber 3 mile walk. Can’t make it to Boston? That’s ok! There’s a virtual version of the walk.

This is an opportunity to do something for those in need and to make in a difference in your world. It takes just one day of your time and a little fundraising. It’s an honor to be able to walk the historic Boston Marathon route and the event will be filled with fun activities, people and amazing views. It’s a great way to get an amazing workout, spend time with friends and do something amazing to help fight a disease that effects so many of us, cancer. Walking these distances is a great way to prove to yourself that you are a fighter and you can achieve your goals. The Jimmy Fund even provides walkers with training schedules for the event.
