Your Questions, Answered

At my last speaking event I had someone take note of the questions the audience asked at the end of the presentation. I did this so I could answer them for you here! The questions I receive at the end of a presentation are different every time it seems. BUT there are some common themes. Here’s a little Q&A to start your day!

Question:

Answer: Every single day is different and every single day throws new challenges at us. The key is having realistic expectations for what we can accomplish and when we can accomplish it. I suggest building in time every day for the unexpected. Give yourself 30 minutes of “free time” that isn’t booked with anything. If something comes up, you have a buffer of time to deal with it. If nothing comes up, you have some time to tackle long term projects or goals.

Question: What are some delivery services I can use to save myself time?

Answer: Many grocery stores offer delivery or pickup services that make grocery shopping easier and quicker. Many families find they spend LESS money this way because they aren’t making impulse purchases in the grocery store.

Question: When keeping a time journal, how exact do I have to be?

Answer: The purpose of keeping a time journal is to give you a general idea of how long things take. This is particularly important in comparison to how long you think they take. For example, many of my clients think shopping takes them 20 minutes. Once they are paying attention to the clock, they know they need two hours to get it done. The purpose of the time journal is to help you understand your time better. However, the real key is to be paying attention to it!

Question: What scanning software and hardware do I recommend?

Answer: For both my business and persona use I utilize a Neat Desk. I enjoy the Neat Cloud feature that allows me to access my documents anywhere. I also like that I can scan receipts, business cards or paper with it.

Question: Does recording your own voice work well in lieu of making to do list?

Answer: I love this option for getting things off of your mind and onto an actionable source. It’s also a great way to be able to take notes while you’re driving or working out. Most smart phones have an option to record your voice or an entire meeting.

Question: What’s the most convenient & the most practical way to organize a kitchen if bending is a problem &/or if one has lower back pain? I’m starting from scratch, so you don’t have to worry about my set up. Also, I have nice & stylish kitchenware w/a black, white & red color scheme that I’ll love to display & need displayed as I also have a TBI & forget what isn’t seen. Thank you so much for what you do & for what you offer the world!
