How To Organize Your Whole House With One Item

Yes, you CAN organize everything with one item. I know it sounds nuts right? You’re thinking that you can’t possibly organized everything with one item. Well, I challenge you to try. The three ring binder is an organizing powerhouse. You can organize with three ring binders in every area of your home; office, kitchen, playroom, even the playroom.

Bindertek

Please note this is a sponsored post. My opinions and organizing ideas and photographs are my own.

So how do you do it? Start with some heavy duty, user friendly binders like these from Bindertek. This binder comes in a variety of colors. I suggest picking a few complimentary colors and starting there. The binders shown in these photos are 2 inches wide and are about 11 inches high by 11 inches wide. They can each hold 300 sheets of paper.

The binders each have silver tipping on the edges. Not only does this look amazing, it’s a great way to Menu Organizationprotect the edges from wear and tear. The binders also have a circular cut out on the spine. This allows you to easily grab it off the shelf. There’s a spot on the spine for customization and labeling. Bindertek even offers free printable templates.

Here is what you can organize with this one binder. (Prepare to have your mind blown!)

Kids’ Organizing

Instead of having all of those instruction manuals, building instruction sheets and even coloring books floating around, put them in one place. Add page protectors to the binder and then insert all of those misc. papers into them. This is a great way for kids to be able to see, use and then store those items they always seem to lose. Never wonder where the instructions for the Lego model or Monopoly are again.

ManualsThis is also a great way to store school work, small pieces of artwork or school records. Give every child their own binder or use one binder per school year.

Kitchen Organizing

We all have a ton of cookbooks. Even I, as an organizer, have bunches and bunches. Why? Because Recipe Orgnaizationthere’s one or two recipes you like in each cook book. Instead of keeping them all on the shelf, taking up valuable kitchen space, copy the pages you love, and either use a three hole punch or page protectors to store them in the binder. If you have a ton of recipes, you can use separate binders for desserts, holiday dinners, weeknight dinners and so on. You can even divide up the binder’s contents into length of time to cook, ingredients, or the frequency you make the meal. Get creative and come up with a system that works for you.

Take all of the takeout menus out of the junk drawer. Go do it, I’ll wait. Okay, now put them into a binder, label the spine “menus” and put it on the shelf. When you’re too tired to make dinner and want to have something delivered, you won’t even have to search for the menus.

Make a Planner

Planner OrganizationIf you have trouble finding a planner that suits your needs, make your own! Planners made from binders are large enough to fit everything that’s going on in your life; work, home, kids’ activities and more. You can even add in pencil pouches, a travel three hole punch and sticky notes in order to have an all in one package. In the planner below I’ve used a calendar printable, (available on my website), monthly page dividers and of course, some paper. The planner can be customized as much or as little as you want. And, as the weeks and months go on, simply remove the pages you no longer need, making it lighter and easier to carry around. Using a binder as a planner is often more sturdy and durable than other options.

[…] What I have inside the binder isn’t critical to this story…it’s the system and how YOU can use it to its fullest potential. Three ring binders can be used for everything. I wrote a whole other blog post on them and you can view it here. […]
