9 Things I Found at IKEA to Organize Anything

So I recently took a trip to ikea. I was there for a single purpose. However, it was hard not to wander aimlessly through the model homes. It was amazing to see what they can put into under 300 feet of space. And it’s also amazing when you think to yourself…hey I could live in this! (Then you remember that this fictitious person has no camping gear or gym bags.)

I did find some some awesome organizing tools, and while I didn’t record the prices of everything, I tried to get the price tag in the photo when possible. Here are my picks for items you could use just about anywhere in your home.

Top Row

Left: These shelves are interlocking and can be affixed to any way. They are adorable and perfect for plants, picture frames or collections of items you’d like to display (cameras, figurines, a child’s toys, etc). You can use all of one color or mix and match.

Middle: I’m obsessed with these bags. I have been for years. I use them to carry things around my home when doing projects like switching my winter for summer clothes. I use them to haul holiday decorations, laundry or toys. They are also awesome to keep as a “to donate” bag at the bottom of your hall closet. They are perfect for the beach, road trips and anything that’s messy. While they are super durable, they are just 59 cents each so you really don’t have to worry about them!

Right: This pail and rail system is shown here set up for the kitchen. However, I think it would be awesome for a kids’ space….put small toys like Legos in it or art and craft supplies.

Middle Row

Left: These are metal shelf risers. They even have an adorable pattern on them. They are meant to go inside of your cabinets in order to maximize your vertical space. They are awesome for plates, mugs or even food storage containers. Once you use shelf risers you’ll never use your cabinet space the same way again.

Middle: Another pail and rail system. You can even customize the colors of the pail on this one. I love the idea of using this in a bathroom for toothbrushes, quips, makeup and so on. Each family member can have their own pails!

Right: You’ve heard be talk about plastic shoe boxes before. They are THE MOST versatile organizing tool there is. Everything from first aid supplies to tools to of course, shoes fit in these gems. At about fifty cents each, buy a ton and you don’t have to worry about breaking them. Because they’re plastic they even wash off easily if they get dirty or something inside spills.

Bottom Row

Left: These little pails were in the plant section but I picked a few up to hold small things like doggie mess bags, keys and phone chargers while not in use. These are also great for granola bars, candy, pens, or even hair assessors.

Middle: These are meant to hold all of this elastic bags you have floating around. $1.99 each.

Right: IKEA has been selling these little containers in sets of three for years. I love them and use them for my craft supplies. They are super cute and REALLY durable. Get these for kids’ items or to make your own office a little whimsical!
