As you know, I work from home. I do have an office and it’s where I work, most of the time. However, sometimes I like to work from my living room (usually during the cooler winter months or when I’m desperately behind on TV), or a project necessitates I need a bigger working surface and I move to my kitchen table. Pair these “travel” needs with the fact that my home made desk has NO drawers, and I needed some storage space for my STUFF. I looked at a lot of options, but finally settled on a set of drawers from Wayfair.com. I loved that the drawers were closed so the items inside wouldn’t accumulate dust, and that the whole unit is on castors and can be rolled!
I quickly assembled the unit…well not THAT quickly…especially with my two dogs thinking some of the pieces were toys. Once I had it put together, I grabbed a bunch of my favorite drawer organizers from Three by Three. I’ve talked about them before. If you want to see that post, check it out here.
I started with my smallest items such as book rings, post it tabs and staples. I used the smallest and shallowest trays for these. I love how the color of the trays stands out from the while background, making it easy to see and identify everything. If I were going to be taking things out of these trays or I had multiple people using this system, I would label the bottoms of the trays with their contents.
Colorful Organization
The deeper bins were used for items that had more substance to them such as ink cartridges (which I obviously buy in bulk), my business cards, binder clips, and other office supplies. These trays can easily be labeled on the side too!
Stop The Slide
If you want to ensure the trays don’t slide around at all you can use a small piece of putty on the bottom of them or use a small piece of under rug grip.
Wrap It Up
It also dawned on my that this rolling car could easily be used for a wrapping organizer. Wanting to try it out, I grabbed some more bins and started organizing my wrapping supplies into them. These trays are perfect for ribbon, gift cards, small bags, tape, and even tiny boxes!
I’m in love with this option. I used to use a tall wrapping organizer and the small things were always buried at the bottom, leading to damage and frustration every time I needed to find something. I think I need another rolling organizer! The drawers even fit gift bags.
