Organizing with #SilhouettePortrait

I was recently given the opportunity to try out a Silhouette Portrait. I wanted to see how a craft cutter like this could help you get organized. The box arrived and I opened it up and started playing right away. What I found surprised even me, an avid crafters and Pinterester.

I did watch the video that came with it. And then I hit Pinterest and did a search for Silhouette ideas. I may have gotten a little lost in Internet land at this point, but when I came back around I felt like I (mostly) knew how to create something.

I started on vinyl and made a design in the software I’d installed. In just a few moments I’d created a vinyl design that was adorable and liftable. I’ll be mounting it and sharing that with you later.

Next I set out to find some projects that would help you organize your home. In under an hour, I’d created, printed and cut a few different organizational tools. I’ve left some of them on the sheets for these pictures so you could see the whole set clearly.

The first thing I created was this awesome set of stickers for kids’ school binders, notebooks and other school supplies. I bought these from the Silhouette store for .99. Then, I chose fun and bright colors and printed on my home printer. Then, I used the mat to cut them out. Now I have a set of awesome stickers to give my tutoring students!

This adorable tag was another one I purchased from the Silhouette store for .99. I put multiples on a page, cut them out from thick white cad stock and then punched out the little holes. I used a marker to write the contents of the jar. I used twine that I had on hand and it’s adorable and organized! These labels could be used for anything! Totes of toys, bins in the pantry, containers in the bathroom and even labeling drawers.

This next project is my favorite. Printed, then cut out on sticker paper, these are ready to organize your pantry containers! For just .99 you can print as many as you want and have them ready to go any time you want to organize or reorganize the pantry. These labels, on a set of containers, would make a great gift for a newlywed couple or for a house warming present.

This is another of my favorites. These labels were in the store for .99. I added a few to a page of stickers, hit “send to Silhouette” and within minutes I had labels to stick on anything I wanted. What’s better than that? I figured it was only fitting that I should add one to the container I was using to hold my Silhouette tools. (It’s a small, plastic photos box by Iris.) You could use a label maker to label these or just a nice pen or marker, like I did. Awesome for labeling anything you need! And cute too. You could print these on adhesive kraft paper for a more home spun look. This project would be great in the place of gift tags for birthdays and holidays too.

While this last project isn’t specifically organizing related, it keeps you organized. This adorable tag took me a few minutes to create. (I could have used better card stock to get a cleaner cut, but I’m still learning!) So, you never have to be caught off guard again by not having wrapping supplies on hand. You can make them quickly and easily. This also helps you out because you have to STORE less wrapping inventory! Keep in mind, this is just one example of a gift wrapping project. That have TONS!
