Elf Gets Organized-Day 1-Cleaning

December 1, 2020 • Christmas Organization Tips, Elf on the Shelf, Holiday Organization Tips, Holiday Organizing Tips

Cleaning isn’t fun. No one likes cleaning. However, you know that you’ll want to have a clean home for your friends and family this holiday season. The first thing we want you to do is make a list of what needs to be cleaned. This isn’t meant to overwhelm you. However, it’s meant to give you an idea of the amount of time you’re going to need.

Next, ask yourself a few questions;

Can you skip cleaning any of these areas?

Can you get some assistance from family members?

Which areas need to be cleaned at the last minute (bathrooms, etc)?

If you can, you might want to treat yourself to the gift of a clean home. Hire a house cleaner to come through your home so you can spend a little more time enjoying festive activities.

If you want to DIY the cleaning, make a schedule for yourself.

Start as early as possible and start cleaning the areas that you haven’t paid attention to in a while. (Baseboards, frames on the wall and so on).

Day 1

I like to clean the guest bedroom, office and other lesser used and seen spaces and then move into the living room, foyer, kitchen and dining room. If you don’t use your dining room other than holiday gatherings, this is a great place to start cleaning and staging the decor.

The earlier you start, the less you’ll have to do when you’d rather be eating cookies and watching Elf!

There is a saying, “What gets written down gets attended to, and what gets attended to gets done.”

Write down your organizing goals and hold yourself accountable for completing them.

I know it seems like a big chore, but you’ll be glad you did it once you’re done!
