So folding clothes is something you probably don’t look forward to doing all week. If I’m wrong, please come over and help me with my piles. The thing with folding is that everyone has different preferences. The way my husband likes his tee shirts folded and the way I like mine folded is completely different. I get asked a lot of there is a “right way”. There isn’t. BUT I’m going to share with you some of the unique ways you can make clothing folding work for you.
The first tool I want to show you is called Pliio. It’s a folding system set which consists of a fabric “drawer” and folders that go inside of it. I don’t have a photo depicting the folding, however, the package comes with instructions. You simply lay the shirt down on a flat surface, fold each side over, fold the bottom up and then fold the Pliio in thirds. It takes seconds and the result is the amazingly neat and tidy folded tee shirts you see here. These are awesome for kids clothes, someone who has a TON of tee shirts, kids’ clothes and anything else you want to look and feel neat. What I love about these is that you can actually see what’s on the front of tee shirts and there’s not digging through the piles in your closets and drawers. I also love using Pliio with some of my elderly clients. It allows everything to be easily folded, seen and accessed.

The pieces that the Pliio is made up of; the clothing drawer and the folder that goes inside the clothing article

Here you can see six shirts put into the Pliio system.
The second tool is a Flip and Fold clothing folder. These come in various colors and both an adult and a kid’s size. This is used by laying the flip and fold down, then folding in the sides, then folding the bottom up. You get a nicely folded shirt, pair of pants or even sheet. It’s not as tight as the Pliio, but the items will take up less space in your closet. Kids love using this too!
Another way to store clothes is to roll them. Simply give the item a loose fold and then roll it. This is amazing when you’re traveling as it helps avoid wrinkles and you can fit a little bit more into a suitcase (make sure to weigh it before you leave the house!). I love rolling jeans and pants the most. It’s easy to grab and go when you want to wear them and you can see what’s clean and ready to be worn easily. They also take up less space this way. Check out what some rolled pants look like and how they can be stored. This is actually an old dynamite crate I found at a flea market in Maine….you can use any container that fits your space and style.
