Empowerment is a term we’ve been hearing more and more in the media. It’s something we’re all becoming more aware of in our daily lives; at work, at home and everything in between. This caused me to stop and think about what empowerment meant to ME and how I could empower others around me.
“She believed she could, so she did”
To me empowerment means being able to accomplish anything you can dream. In a world where women are empowered we don’t stop and think about a career being “just for men”, or being second best because of gender. It’s all about knowing you can, and going for it.
One of the places that empowerment is critically important is fitness. The sayings “Run like a girl.” or “Throw like a girl.” have given negative connotations to what girls can accomplish. The reality is girls are amazing athletes and can achieve their sports and fitness goals every single day. It’s all about feeling empowered to do so.

Strong Women=Strong World
Feeling empowered can start in unexpected places, like your clothes. Swoob was a brand that was started on a climbing adventure outside Salt Lake, Utah. Since then the brand has grown to a line of amazing fitness wear. Their clothes are designed to feel comfortable, look good and allow you to carry what you need on the go. It’s truly a brand dedicated to women and their needs. Swoob knows one of women’s needs is to look and feel great all the time, even on the trail or at the gym.
I was able to try out Swoob’s Dragonfly bra. It’s my go to bra. Good for hot yoga, running, spin and my daily errands, it keeps me dry, comfortable and feeling secure in all the right ways. It’s tight, but not too tight and the material is soft on my skin. I love that it folds up into its own pocket for easy travel too. This is going to be the bra that travels with me everyone on my summer adventures. Even thought it’s “just a workout”, I like to feel good, and confident when I leave the house. I walk straighter, take care of myself and come home calmer. It’s a cycle of taking care of myself. Something as simple as a great sports bra can do that to a girl! Swoob supports women and all their endeavors, which makes me happy!

Being able to take care of yourself can also be empowering. Carrying something small like Sabre’s spray allows you to defend yourself if need be and feel confident while you’re running, biking, or walking on your own. It’s all about taking the precautions to care for yourself and not needing anyone’s assistance. Sabre allows to stay safe, comfortable and worry-free. Want to learn more about Sabre and read survivor stories? They are inspiring, so grab a cup of coffee and start reading here.

Check out the pocket on the inside of the bra! Perfect for my phone or fuel!
Sabre is a family owned business. They are dedicated to making sure their customers understand how to use their products and keeping their customers safe. In fact, law enforcement in 40 countries use Sabre’s products. If you’re new to pepper spray, they even sell a practice pepper spray to ensure you’re comfortable using the product.
I’ve been carrying Sabre’s Running Pepper Spray for years. It’s reliable and the container is good for four years. (Unless you use it.) It’s police strength and because the stream is so strong the likelihood of back spray is lower. The hand strap makes it easy and discreet to carry. Just strap it to your hand and place index, middle, ring and pinky fingers around the spray. Use thumb to deploy. You’ll feel comfortable, safe and empowered. Feeling like you can hold your own is so important. Whether I’m going out for a run or to the mall, I like to know that I have it covered and I’m secure in my ability to take care of myself.
Empowerment can come from other women’s stories. If I’m having a down day or I don’t feel like leaving the house, I tell myself those are the days I need to workout the MOST.
