What You Can Create With Glitter Duck Tape

April 16, 2015 • crafting, Holiday Shopping Tips

We all know that Duck tape is useful, versatile and pretty much an all around savior.  However, Duck Brand’s newest creations are whimsical, fun and allow you to get super creative.  I set out to find some easy projects that you can complete quickly.  The projects are necessarily organizing related, but they will help you repurpose items you already own and make your home just a little bit more beautiful.

This post is not sponsored, but I did receive a few rolls of Duck glitter tape to try out in order to be able to write this post.  If you want to learn more about the tape I used, click here.

What You Can Create With Glitter Duck Tape

If you have glass votive holders around your house, (like I do), glitter Duck tape can give them a little sparkle, literally.  Some of my votive holders were dingy from soot and left over wax.  Instead of spending hours cleaning them (and taking away from writing posts for you!), I decided to wrap them in this glitter tape.  The result is stunning and it takes about 30 seconds to do, depending on the size of your votive!

This plastic dollar store frame was just plain ugly.  I added some glitter tape to it and now it’s worth of a spot on my desk.  I just cut the strips to length and tucked the edges around the back of the frame.  Super easy and effective!  IF you change your mind, this tape peels off easily and doesn’t leave residue.

I love kraft paper wrapping.  I use kraft rolls for larger gifts and kraft boxes for smaller ones.  I buy them at a craft store or on Etsy. I love them because one box can be personalized for any recipient or any event! Here, you can see what I created with just a few strips of glitter tape.  I added one strip around the bottom of the box and two strips on the top to create a strip pattern.  _MRD9616

If you want to jazz up your packaging a little more, embellish a plain card stock gift tag with tape too!_MRD9620If you have a lot of cords or chargers and can never determine which is the one you need to grab, color code them with tape like this.  This is the cord to my Silhouette.  Despite the machine being white and creating unique items, the cord is plain black and not easily distinguishable.  I added some of this glitter tape and I’ll never miss it again!

Want to decorate on a dime?  (Or less!).   Buy a bag of tea lights and wrap them in glitter tape (or any pattern washi tape you like…go crazy!).  This makes a plain tea light look like part of your party decor.  Tea lights can even be found at the dollar store for pennies a piece._MRD9629

This might be my favorite creation with glitter Duck Tape.  I used a small 5×7 canvas (purchased at a discount store in a pack of six for $2.50) and wrapped the tape around it.  I cut the strips to fit so that there would be some overlap to the back.  I then used my Silhouette to cut out Smile and Today on teal vinyl.  (From Bogo Vinyl).  Once it was all put together, I added a coat of Mod Podge to it and this will adorn my desk area as a very important reminder every day._MRD9631

Another party idea….instead of buying specialty party supplies, customize any color with tape! These are biodegradable “plastic” party supplies from Staples.  I created an initial on the cup and just wrapped the utensils with tape.  Super easy and cost effective._MRD9634Your turn…what would you create with glitter Duck Tape?  Tell me in the comments below and I might send you a roll!
