Crafting with Bogo Vinyl (Just in time for the holidays!)

October 20, 2015 • crafting

Not everyone has time for crafting.  However, I think a home made decor item or gift is so much more meaningful than something you buy at the store. So, I set out to create a quick and easy craft that you can create on your own in just a few minutes.

Crafting with bogo vinyl

Craft SuppliesHere’s what I used:

Transfer paper from Bogo Vinyl

Brown Glossy Vinyl from Bogo Vinyl

“Give Thanks” graphic from Silhouette

Silhouette Machine

Metal Plaque (I bought these from Pick Your Plum, but they don’t have them in stock all the time.  I suggest these wooden plaques from Darby Smart instead.)

So all you have to do is pick your design in the Silhouette store and insert the vinyl.  The machine will do all of the cutting for you.  Here’s a sneak peek at what the design feature and software looks like.

Give Thanks

The colors don’t matter on the screen, it only matters what color vinyl you put into your machine.

The next few steps are technical and will differ depend on your design, and the type of machine you’re using.  I peel off the excess vinyl around the design and use a little hook that came with the machine to get out all of the little cut outs.

Once the vinyl is cut out, I suggest cutting the vinyl down to size.  Then, simply apply the transfer paper to the design. (It’s peel apart….just peel off the back and apply the sticky stuff.)

It’s a good idea to rub the pages together so everything sticks.

The final step is to apply your vinyl to whatever you’re using.  In order to be safe, move slowly so the vinyl sticks well and doesn’t rip.

And with just a few steps you have an awesome piece of home decor or a hostess gift to give.  I always keep some of these metal plaques and wood plaques on hand so I cam make a gift.  You can add Mod Podge over the top to seal everything in or you could paint the plaque before you apply it.  Get creative!
