Like a lot of people I always like to eat healthy as the New Year starts. All of those holiday treats are a great parts of the celebration of the season. However, they leave us feeling worn out and stuffed. Starting the New Year off with some new healthy eating habits isn’t about making or keeping a resolution, it’s about a new way of life.
Please note I received a sample of the Sedona in order to be able to write this review. My opinions are my own and I only bring you things I think you’ll love and find useful.
I’ve been wanting to try dehydrating foods for a while. I was lucky enough to Tribest’s Sedona Dehydrator.
The dehydrator makes it super easy to create some amazing and healthy snacks. I tried it out first with all different types of fruit. I LOVE dehydrated fruit. However, it’s pricy to buy at the grocery store.
I tried raspberries, strawberries, bananas and a few other things I had in my fruit bowl on the counter. Everything came out amazing. These are crunchy and sweet and everything you need to satisfy a craving mid afternoon.
I have made my own beef jerky using an oven in the past. However, this makes it so much easier, faster and energy efficient. You can also make wraps, fruit leathers and nuts!
The process is super simple. Cut the food into thin slices and place on the trays. You can place things really close together because they get smaller as they dehydrate.
Set the temperature and the timer (the manual will tell you how to do this according to what you are dehydrating) and go about your day. The smell the dehydrating process crates is AMAZING and better than any candle you’ve ever used.
I tried out some fruit; pineapple, apple, and strawberries and I can’t tell you which one is my favorite. I can tell you that these don’t last long. Everyone in my family loved them. I mean everyone, even the fussy, anti-heath food teenager!
I then tried beef jerky. My husband is a big fan and it’s hard to find a version that’s not filled with sodium and other preservatives. I used Alton Brown’s recipe. I let mine marinade over night, then, placed it in the dehydrator and in about 5 hours had an amazing snack that everyone was clamoring for. Not only would this make a lot of jerky at one time, you can put different varieties in for various flavors. This jerky is perfect for afternoon snacking or road trips, but you’ll want to eat it before it’s even cooled off, it’s that good.
