I can’t believe I’m saying this, but summer is finally here! I’m so excited for the long days of warm sun and fun. In order to get you prepared, and packing well for those trips, I’ve gathered a few of my favorite things for this summer. I love getting started a little early and making sure the summer months have all the time possible for enjoyment outside. That means, a few more minutes at the store or online in advance, and that’s perfectly fine by me!
Please note I received samples of some of these items in order to be able to write these reviews. My opinions are my own and were not influenced in any way. These the the items I’m carrying with me and using this summer.
Your Ticket To The Tropics
ChapStick is a tried and true summer companion. This year you can protect your lips from the elements with some new seasonal flavors. My favorite is the Key Lime Pie! It’s fun and smells amazing! Oh and it’s a calorie free dessert! Also check out Mango Sunrise and Aloha Coconut!
I never go anywhere without sunblock. Usually I have multiple bottles of it in multiple locations. I really prefer a natural and organic option that’s not sticky and goes on via spray. Yes, I know I’m fussy and this is hard to find. But you don’t have to, because I found it for you. COOLA has an amazing line of spray sunscreens that protect you from the sun’s harmful rays and keep you looking good, smelling great and feeling fresh. COOLA’S spray is refreshing to use and stays on, even during activity and for about 40 minutes in the water. They also have specialized face sunscreen, lip balm and more. I swear by their products and I promise you, that you will too. Even my “non-fussy” husband always asks me where this bottle is! This is a must for any trip I take! (And my every day life!)
Wet Your Pet’s Whistle
Just like you, your dogs needs some extra water in the summer months. If you’re running around with the kiddos and short on time, you need to check out the Hyrex Torus Pet Water Bowl. It’s a mouthful but it’s pretty darn awesome. The large version of the bowl holds up to half a gallon of water. You fill the reservoir and as your dog (or cat) drinks water, fresh water is gravity fed into the bowl. The water in reserve stays fresh, cool, and clean at all times. There’s no worry about kicking over an enormous bowl of water or replacing batteries. There are even filters available so the water your pet drinks is fresh and sparking.
The Torus water bowl stores up to 2 liters (half a gallon) of water inside its reservoir within the bowl walls, ensuring an ample supply of water, protected from dust and contaminants. Each time your pet takes a drink, replacement water automatically flows from the storage area into the drinking well, passing through a carbon filter, and maintaining fresh water in the bowl to a depth of about half an inch. No batteries or electricity required.
Here’s what I really love for summer travels; The Torus is a go-anywhere bowl. The valve position when locked secures stored water inside the bowl walls so you can take Torus with you wherever you go. It’s completely mobile and ideal for trips to the park, beach, snow, camping, RV or anywhere. Check out all of their sizes and colors available on Amazon.
Your Foot’s Invisibility Cloak
I’ll admit it…I kind of have a thing against socks. (Especially in the summer months.) I LOVE wearing little sneakers like Converse, or boat shoes. However, I don’t like getting blisters or foot odor. I’ve tried a LOT of pairs of mini socks. They are often called different things like peds, liners, no-shows, etc. They never seem to stay on or hold their shape. Well, I wear Bombas socks to workout and run and I love them. When I found out they had an “invisible” option I had to try them. Well, they are hands down the best ones you’ll find. These socks absorb moisture, stay on your foot, keep your shoes comfortable, AND wash well. It’s like I’ve found a unicorn. (And instead of keeping it all to myself, I’m sharing it with you.) Speaking of sharing, Bombas is founded on principles of giving. For every pair you purchase, another pair is donated. If you want to see our review of Bombas’ other (taller) athletic socks, you can check it out here.

For Your Grads
Graduation gifts are challenging. The recipient is often too old for a toy, or something sentimental. Or, they have what they need to head off to school, and they are in those particular young adult years. I love gifting a meaningful book with a handwritten note inside. The book can be taken on their next adventure and serve as inspiration for the recipient, every day. My new favorite book is Whatever You Are Be a Good One. It’s a hand lettered book by Lisa Congdon and each page is uniquely different and whimsical. The quotes are fun and inspiring. You just may want a copy of this book for yourself! If you have more than one grad in your life (or need a great gift for any other reason), check out Fortune Favors The Brave, also illustrated by Lisa Congdon.
Coffee Go Go
It doesn’t matter if you like your coffee hot or iced, the 16 oz. coffee mug from Hydro Flask has you covered. Keeping hot beverages hot (for up to 6 hours) and cool beverages cool (for up to 24 hours), it’s a multi tasker. It comes in sizes that work with what your local coffee house sells so you can cut down on waste. It’s also dishwasher safe, lightweight (for when you need to lug it home to wash and refill), and has an easy to hold finish on it that won’t sweat and drip on your clothes. It’s perfect for summer adventuring to the campground or to the office (if necessary). I’m in love with all the candy colors and want to collect them all! It’s also available in 12 or 20 ounce sizes. Check it out on the Hydro Flask site!
