Since my son was born, I’ve been looking forward to his first summer. I love all of our summer activities; camping at the lake, visiting our island family, and hiking as much as possible. However, I never stopped to think about the technicalities of all of these activities, swimming in particular.

Our secret weapon in getting Silas in the water is the SwimWays Baby Spring Float Sun Canopy. The float has everything we need to have a safe, but comfortable time for all. The sun canopy is rated UPF 50 so I don’t worry as much about sun exposure. I also love that it’s easy to get him in and out of the mesh seat. He can comfortably sit and play and there’s even a mesh space for toys (or just splashing). I also love that the float folds down flat and into it’s own plastic storage bag. The bag even has a strap on it so you can throw it over your shoulder, which is a big plus for moms and dads with their hands full.
The float is perfect for babies starting at nine months old. The ultimate goal at this point is getting baby comfortable in the water. Floating and swimming are new sensations and it’s all about spending time in the water, safe and having fun, that will encourage more interaction down the road. This is the perfect way for mom and dad to feel safe and comfortable, as well as baby. As a new parent, I can promise you that everyone is a little nervous the first time entering the water! This is the perfect tool to help alleviate those anxieties.
The 6th annual National Learn to Swim Day is May 20th this year….so get your float and head to the pool!” AND “If you want to learn more about the National Learn to Swim Website, you can find them here.
Personally, we understand the importance of swimming and starting as early as possible. We started swimming lessons at our local YMCA about a month ago and he’s already taken to it like a fish! The babies in the class have so much fun floating around and playing with the streams of water and pool toys. Getting them engaged and in the water as early as possible means they can be comfortable and confident from day one on your next vacation or backyard adventure.
Oh and you can find Swim Ways at your local Target. (The aisle with swimming toys is a lot of fun!)
